Directions

We have created two maps that will show you the way to Avalon the first one is a long distance map showing towns and major roads. The second map is a close up of the local area and the small roads that lead to Avalon.

Written directions are as follows.

from Gatlinburg/Hwy441:

Take 321 east towards Cosby, TN. Go approximately 15 miles and watch for Rocky Flats Road on the left. Turn left onto Rocky Flats Road go approximately 1 mile and you will see a trailer on the left side of the road. Immediately after it on the left side is Mathis Branch Road. Turn left on Mathis Branch, be careful because this is a very narrow  windy road. Cross the bridge and continue on till you see a wooden fence on the right. We are the last entrance and there will be a sign for Avalon Isle.

from Knoxville via I40:

Take I40 east towards Asheville, NC. Exit at Newport, TN and turn right onto Hwy. 32 going south.  Go through the lights and past the local Wal-Mart and Lowe's. You will come to a stop sign and turn right. There will immediately be another stop sign and you will turn left. This is will be Hwy. 32/321 heading to Cosby, TN. Go several miles your will pass the sign for "foothills parkway" after that 3-6 miles later you will see a fireworks store on the right hand side of the road, on the left will be a small neighborhood bar (3-way INN). Turn right next to the fireworks store and follow the signs to Gatlinburg, TN. Go approximately 5-8 miles and watch for the L Ranch Motel on the right and Jacks Texaco on the left. Just past Jacks Texaco on the right will be Rocky Flats Road. Turn right onto Rocky Flats Road and go approximately 1 mile and you will see a trailer on the left side of the road. Immediately after it on the left side is Mathis Branch Road. Turn left on Mathis Branch, be careful because this is a very narrow windy road. Cross the bridge and continue on till you see a wooden fence on the right. We are the last entrance and there will be a sign for Avalon Isle.

from Asheville via I40:

Take I40 east towards Asheville, NC. Take the Foothills Parkway/Exit 443. The Foothills Parkway will take you over the mountain and has some very beautiful views looking out into the valleys on either side. The parkway dead ends and at the stop sign you will turn left and follow the signs to Gatlinburg, TN. Go approximately 3-6 miles and you will see a fireworks store on the right hand side of the road, on the left will be a small neighborhood bar (3-way INN). Turn right next to the fireworks store and follow the signs to Gatlinburg, TN. Go approximately 5-8 miles and watch for the L Ranch Motel on the right and Jacks Texaco on the left. Just past Jacks Texaco on the right (over a short bridge) will be Rocky Flats Road. Turn right onto Rocky Flats Road and go approximately 1 mile and you will see a trailer on the left side of the road. Immediately after it on the left side is Mathis Branch Road. Turn left on Mathis Branch, be careful because this is a very narrow windy road. Cross the bridge and continue on till you see a wooden fence on the right. We are the last entrance and there will be a sign for Avalon Isle and Registration.
